PowerShield 500: Innovative grid and system protection for PV systems

The PowerShield 500 is a state-of-the-art grid and system protection device that has been developed in accordance with the new low-voltage directive VDE-AR-N 4105. It serves as decoupling protection on the generating unit and is only to be operated in conjunction with a higher-level decoupling protection or equivalent according to TAR of the respective grid connection level (normally “medium voltage” according to VDE-AR-N 4110). The product includes the mains protection relay, associated test disconnect terminals, the communication connection and the coupling switch.
For which systems is the PowerShield 500 suitable?
The PowerShield 500 is ideal for PV systems with a total output of up to 500 kW and a maximum feed-in power of 270 kW. It is particularly suitable for projects in the C&I sector (Commercial & Industrial) and can initially only be used in Germany due to its conformity with the latest VDE guidelines. In a further step, it will also be possible to use it in Austria in compliance with the OVE guidelines.
